Emla Cream 5%

What Is Emla Cream?

Emla Cream is an effective and well-tolerated local anesthetic. It stands for Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetics and represents a mixture of Lidocaine 2.5% and Prilocaine 2.5%.

Indications of Emla Cream in Aesthetic and Anti-aging Medicine

To make the experience of the cosmetic procedures more comfortable, aesthetic practitioners and Registered Nurses use Emla Cream as a local anesthetic. Emla Cream has been approved by the FDA.

Emla Cream is used for relieving pain during superficial dermatological procedures and aesthetic treatments such as laser resurfacing, dermarolling, botox and dermal filler injections, microdermabrasion, chemical peeling and others.

Emla Cream Administration Protocol

Administration of Emla Cream requires an application of occlusive film dressing.

Emla Cream must be applied at least 1 hour prior to any type of cosmetic procedure. For more advanced purposes, such as skin surgery, it is advisable to apply Emla Cream 2 hours prior to the operation.

The layer of Emla Cream should be approximately 5mm thick and should be covered by occlusive film dressing and kept in place for at least 60 minutes.

When time of a cosmetic procedure comes, the dressing should be removed, and the remaining cream should be cleaned off the skin. Only then you are free to perform the procedure.
